WCVB has promoted its morning reporter to the vacant morning traffic anchor spot.

Katie Thompson will appear on the ABC affiliate’s morning show from 4:30-7 a.m Monday through Friday. She will also cover the transportation beat.

“Katie is an experienced journalist whose talent and enthusiasm have made her a great fit for the EyeOpener team, and we’re very happy to welcome Katie into this newly expanded role as traffic anchor and transportation specialist,” said president and general manager Bill Fine. “We’re confident that viewers will rely on Katie’s stories, not only as they plan their daily commutes, but also as their source for enterprising and breaking transportation news.”

Thompson joined the station in 2017 as a general assignment reporter. Prior to joining the Boston station, she worked for Hearst’s sister station WMTW in Portland, Maine.
