KPRC reporter Bill Barajas has been promoted to weekend evening anchor.

“Big news! Happy to announce that I’ve been promoted and given a wonderful opportunity as a weekend evening anchor at KPRC,” Barajas wrote on social media. “I’ve been back in Houston for almost 4 years now and it’s a dream come true to anchor in my hometown.”

He replaces Jonathan Martinez who left to work at WOAI in San Antonio in 2021.

His father Mike retired from KRIV in Houston in 2011 after 24 years there, his brother John Paul Barajas is a reporter at KSAT in San Antonio, and his cousin Erik Barajas is an evening anchor on KTRK in Houston. Both of the Barajas brothers have also worked for KRGV in the Rio Grande Valley.
