Ben Dobson has been named vp of news at NBC 10, Telemundo Boston, and NBC’s 24-hour regional news network necn.

Dobson joins NBC 10 from NBC-owned WVIT in Hartford-New Haven, where he has been vp of news for the last 2 years. He replaces Kenny Plotnik who helped launch the new NBC Boston on Jan. 1, 2017. Plotnik left last month.

“We’re pleased to welcome Ben back to Boston,” said Mike St. Peter, president and GM of the NBC-owned Boston group. “He knows our market, understands our audiences and is respected by his colleagues.”

Dobson had previously been with necn as assistant news director from 2014-2016. He’s also worked at several other New England stations, including spending 6 years as assignment editor at WHDH.
