WHIO has promoted McCall Vrydaghs to chief meteorologist after forecasting weather for the CBS affiliate in Dayton, Ohio for more than six years.
“I’m very excited to start this next chapter of my life,” Vrydaghs said. “The Miami Valley is my home, and it means everything to me to keep families safe from severe weather by leading the very best weather team in Southwest Ohio.”
Most recently, Vrydaghs forecasted a series of deadly tornadoes live on the air in Greene and Clark counties in April, and in Troy in May. After the touchdowns, she performed site surveys of the damage.
WHIO’s current chief meteorologist, Eric Elwell, is leaving to be closer to family in Columbus. He will be leaving the station at the end of the year.
