Tegna Launches Campaign to Raise Money for Wildfire Victims

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

Tegna stations across the country are raising money to provide relief to those impacted by the wildfires across California.

The campaign is called #CaliforniaGiving and it allows people to donate on station websites in partnership with Global Giving.

“There are everyday heroes all around us. We are committed to telling their stories and helping our communities come together to make a difference in the lives of those who have lost so much,” said Dave Lougee, president and CEO, Tegna.

Tegna’s Sacramento station KXTV has been covering the fires all month. So far, 77 people have lost their lives and nearly 1,000 are missing.

The company inspirational story series, HeartThreads, will produce content about the heros who have helped battle these fires to promote the campaign.

The organizations the #CaliforniaGiving campaign will assist are based in both Northern and Southern California and address a wide range of needs for victims. They include Jake’s Diapers, Inc., World Central Kitchen and California Fire Foundation.
