She’s a local news legend in Miami.

WPLG anchor Laurie Jennings has spent 20 years delivering news to viewers in South Florida, 15 of them at this staation. But after the May book, she’s leaving.

In an announcement during the 6 p.m. show Monday, Jennings said it was time to spend more time at home. Her twin boys are 13 and she says her parents are getting older.

“It’s very difficult to think of not being there every night for our loyal viewers, but hopefully, they’ll see me even more now out in the community,” said Jennings. “Change is hard, but it’s exciting!”

The six-time Emmy Award-winning anchor did the 4, 5, 6 and 11 p.m. shows each night. She arrived at WPLG in 2004. Prior to that she worked at WHDH in Boston, WSVN in Miami and did a short stint at MSNBC.
