2 California Stations Sold

Chico, CA, CBS and NBC affiliate stations KHSL and KNVN have sold, in separate deals valued at $38 million (KHSL) and $1.3 million (KNVN).

“KHSL TV has a great local broadcasting legacy in the Chico-Redding areas with more than 60 years of service,” said Bob Prather, chief executive officer of Heartland Media, which bought KHSL through its subsidiary California TV. “This station is a natural complement to our operations in the adjacent Eugene and Medford markets.”

KHSL general manager Peter O’Brien told the Appeal Democrat the new ownership will bring more resources to the stations, including more capabilities for live reporting.
