Fox News has named Trace Gallagher as the anchor of its late-night newscast Fox News @ Night.

Gallagher will anchor the show from Fox News’ bureau in Los Angeles and begins his new assignment on October 3.

In making the announcement, Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said, “When it comes to breaking news coverage, Trace Gallagher is one of the best in the business—and having a seasoned journalist at the helm of this hour ensures our viewers unrivaled 24/7 news coverage.”

“It’s an honor to lead Fox News @ Night—and I look forward to breaking down the major headlines for our audience across the country every evening,” Gallagher said.

He fills a hole vacated by Shannon Bream, who left the 12 a.m. ET newscast last month to become the moderator of Fox News Sunday, becoming the first woman to lead the show in its 26-year history.

Gallagher has been with the network since its inception in 1996. He was part of the live coverage of the death of Queen Elizabeth II—and anchored overnight coverage of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine earlier in the year. He has covered numerous breaking news stories while at Fox News—and in 2017 received praise for his work covering Hurricane Harvey in Texas and the mass shooting in Las Vegas.

Before joining Fox News in 1996, Gallagher was an anchor and reporter at local NBC stations in Las Vegas, Boise, Idaho, Yuma, Ariz., and the local CBS station in Orlando.
