Shannon Bream Named Moderator of Fox News Sunday

Fox News Channel has named Shannon Bream the next moderator of Fox News Sunday, becoming the first woman to lead the show in its 26-year history.

Bream currently anchors the network’s midnight news hour, Fox News @ Night and is its chief legal correspondent. She has guest-hosted Fox’s Sunday political talk program frequently since Chris Wallace left Fox News for CNN eight months ago.

Ironically CNN confirmed earlier today that Wallace would be taking permanent ownership of CNN’s Sunday 7 p.m. hour beginning in the fall.

Bream, who signed a multi-year deal with Fox News in 2020, joined the network in 2007—and worked her way up the ladder from Supreme Court correspondent to anchor of Fox News @ Night, launching the late-night news show in October 2017.

In her other role as Fox News chief legal correspondent (a role she will keep), Bream led the network’s coverage of the Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and reported on the leaked draft opinion through the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. She also provided extensive live coverage of the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer and the confirmation of newly sworn-in Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. She also contributed to the network’s coverage of Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation, as well as on the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Previously, she covered the Supreme Court decision to rule in favor of same-sex marriage nationwide in 2015 as well as the 2013 Supreme Court ruling of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), California’s Prop. 8 and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) in 2012. She also reported on the nomination of Judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.

Before arriving at Fox, Bream worked in local news and—before that—was a practicing attorney, often finding herself representing cases of workplace sexual harassment.

“Shannon is an outstanding journalist, reporter and anchor who has cultivated a strong and enduring relationship with the Fox News Media audience,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement.

Bream added, “It has been an honor to cover major news throughout Washington over the last 15 years at Fox News. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to host a Sunday show and look forward to this new role.”

Bream will take over the Sunday show role beginning Sunday, Sept. 11.
