The DVR Factor Helps O’Reilly Into Top 20

By SteveK

Thanks to some help from his viewers who chose to wait a while before they indulge in The Factor, Bill O’Reilly‘s top-rated Fox News show scored two of the top 20 spots on Nielsen’s Most Time-shifted Cable Shows list during the week of March 17.

The O’Reilly Factor also placed twice in the Top 40 most watched cable shows that week, the first time in 2008 for both occurrences.

The Time-shifted index factors in Live+7, or seven days after the original broadcast, allowing for viewers who choose to use DVR or TiVo. The O’Reilly Factor’s increase of 2.7% for the Monday show and 2.3% for the Wednesday show placed it 13th and 19th on the list, respectively.

TVbytheNumbers has the chart of the Top 20. Blogger Bill Gorman offers some insight:”Quite an unusual occurrence in the cable time-shifting list this week are the two episodes of Fox News’ The O’Reilly Factor at #13 and #19,” he writes. “I’m going to wager it was special guest interviews, because it’s unheard of to see a regular news show timeshifted by even 2%.”
