Sunday Show Ratings: September 11

Sunday-AM-Anchors_061015_640Meet the Press with Chuck Todd won across the board this past Sunday, both in total viewers and A25-54 viewers. The episode was up 8 percent in total viewers and up a 22 percent in the news demo compared to the comparable Sunday in 2015 (Sept. 13). The program was retitled due to an abnormal start time in the New York market due to live coverage of the 9/11 15th anniversary ceremony. The episode aired in NY at 12:45 p.m. on WNBC.

CBS’ Face the Nation with John Dickerson finished No. 2 both in total viewers and in the key news demo. Sunday’s episode was up 2 percent in total viewers and up 15 percent in the news demo from the same Sunday in 2015. Face the Nation was carried in New York on WCBS’ sister station WLNY Ch. 10/55 in its usual time period.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos fell to third place in the news demo, dropping 9 percent in total viewers and falling 16 percent in the news demo from the same Sunday last year. This Week aired at 2 p.m. in the New York market (WABC).

Fox News Sunday was up 6 percent in total viewers and up 5 percent in the news demo from the same Sunday in 2015. The trio of cable replays delivered a combined 2.74 million total viewers, 595,000 of whom were A25-54. Combining the cable replays with the original broadcast on FOX, the September 11 edition of Fox News Sunday delivered a combined 4.18 million total viewers and 1.01 million from the news demo.

Univision’s Al Punto continues to thrive with millennials (A18-34), and this past Sunday’s episode increased its audience from the comparable Sunday last year by 26 percent. The program also beat CBS and FOX in this typically hard to reach demo.

Editor’s Note: Face the Nation’s second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 58.7% of the CBS affiliates.
