CBS’ Face the Nation with John Dickerson was the most-watched Sunday morning public affairs program for May 22, and NBC’s Meet the Press with Chuck Todd won the A25-54 demo for the 11th straight broadcast.
With rebroadcasts on NBC network and MSNBC, MTP was watched by an additional 1.17 million total viewers and +368,000 viewers from the news demo. Meet the Press was preempted this week last year due to NBC’s coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix.
Over on the Eye, Face the Nation experienced a 7 percent improvement in total viewers and a solid 21 percent improvement in the demo from the comparable episode in 2015.
ABC’s This Week with with George Stephanopoulos finished No. 3 in both categories, but experienced the most significant year-over-year improvement in total viewers (+38 percent). This Week was also up double digits in the news demo from the same day a year ago (+18 percent).
John Roberts filled in for Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday this past week. The program held steady in total viewers but was down 24 percent in the demo from the comparable episode in 2015. Combining the original FOX broadcast with cable replays, FNS delivered 3.488 million total viewers and 768,000 viewers from the demo this past Sunday. Replays on FNC averaged a combined 2.193 million viewers and 380,000 from the demo.
It was also a big week for Al Punto. Sunday’s episode saw double-digit audience growth in total viewers (+49 percent) and in the news demo (+43) from the comparable Sunday in 2015.
