Sunday Show Ratings: Dec. 8

CBS and NBC split the Sunday show ratings race on Dec. 8.

Face the Nation with Margaret Brennan, sporting a brand new studio, was the most-watched Sunday political program of the day, delivering 3.1 million total viewers.

Meet the Press with Chuck Todd maintained the top spot among adults 25-54, averaging 690,000 viewers from that category. That figure is +12% (76,000) more than ABC, and +13% (78,000) more than what CBS delivered on Sunday.

Season-to-date, MTP is the No. 1 Sunday show across the board, delivering its best total viewer lead over ABC in 8 years and CBS in 9 years.

An additional 918,000 total viewers and 232,000 A25-54 viewers watched the Sunday program through rebroadcasts on NBC and MSNBC.

ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos finished the week in 3rd behind CBS and NBC in total viewers, but 2nd, ahead of CBS in the A25-54 demo. ABC has now defeated CBS in the demo the past 5 broadcasts.

Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace delivered 1.3 million total viewers and 370,000 demo viewers on Fox. The trio of cable replays later in the day combined for 2 million total viewers and 315,000 demo viewers. Altogether, roughly 3.3 million total viewers and 685,000 A25-54 viewers watched Fox News Sunday on Dec. 8.

Compared to the same Sunday last year, Face the Nation was -7% in total viewers. Meet the Press was -13%. ABC’s This Week was -7% and Fox News Sunday was -12% in total viewers.

The top 2 Sunday shows in total viewers also posted the biggest year over year losses among adults 25-54. MTP was -25%, despite finishing No. 1 in the measurement, and CBS was also -25%. ABC was just -2% while Fox was -12%.
