For the last two nights Brian Williams has opened NBC Nightly News a bit differently. Gone is the show open with the pictures and voices of NBC News anchors from the past: John Cameron Swayze, Chet Huntley, David Brinkley, John Chancellor and Tom Brokaw. Instead, the broadcast opens with Williams on camera standing beside graphics of the stories coming up.
Williams then begins with the lead story sitting at the anchor desk. For years, even going back to Brokaw, NBC Nightly News has begun with the anchor standing. We’ll see how this looks in few weeks when Nightly moves into its new/old studio on the 3rd floor of 30 Rock.
