This morning ESPN threw Linda Cohn a party celebrating her 5,000th edition of SportsCenter. And Cohn was kept in the dark about all of it.
Much of the 2-hour show, the first hour on ESPN and the second on ESPN2, reflected on Cohn’s 23+ years with the Worldwide Leader, including a clip of her first appearance alongside Chris Myers (circa 1992) and a tribute from Chris Myers (circa 2016), and shout-outs from other sports celebrities. The culmination came at the end of the show when Cohn’s two kids joined her in studio–only one of whom was alive when she joined ESPN from Seattle’s KIRO TV.
