Charles Osgood Taking Time Off CBS Sunday Morning

By Chris Ariens

At the end of CBS Sunday Morning Charles Osgood announced he’ll be off the next few weeks as he recovers from knee surgery. “I’ll be checking into the hospital to get my right knee replaced with a new one. Not an unusual procedure these days, nothing to worry about unless of course it’s your knee,” said Osgood, who celebrated his 83rd birthday last month. “I’ll be taking the next few weeks off to get back on my feet, as it were. Then I’ll be back here again as good as new.”

Osgood’s primary fill-ins on the show have been Jane Pauley and Lee Cowan.

CBS Sunday Morning continues to be the most-watched morning show on TV. Last week, 6.71 million tuned in, up +11 percent vs. the same day last year, and the 7th consecutive week of delivering more than 6 million viewers.
