Britain’s ITV News Channel has been axed, The Times Online reports. “The channel is to close at the end of next month, after five years on air,” staffers were told today.
The digital news network “has consistently held third place in audience share against Sky News and BBC News 24.” (Doesn’t that sound familiar?) “On Sunday, both BBC News 24 and Sky News achieved ratings of more than 4 million for their coverage of the Buncefield oil depot explosion. The ITV News Channel had only 1.4 million viewers.”
