ABC’s Barbara Walters leads a lineup of TV newsers with shows on Investigation Discovery, which unveiled a slate of programs at the Television Critics Association event in Los Angeles Thursday. Walters headlines American Scandals, a series that revisits notorious stories from recent decades.

“In our lifetime, there is no other name more associated with headlines and stories that mesmerized readers and viewers than Barbara Walters. Indeed, only the incomparable Barbara Walters could deliver these original interviews and get the subjects to speak to her,” said Henry Schleiff, group president, Discovery Networks.

The network announced it had given greenlights to a documentary special and limited series, featuring Al Jazeera America anchor Tony Harris, who described Investigation Discovery as one of the “few homes on television that allow for the compelling, in-depth storytelling that I am passionate about.”

NBC News vet Chris Hansen hosts Killer Instinct, which focuses on the mind of killers. “Killer instinct taps into Chris’ trademark technique of taking viewers along for the ride,” said Schleiff.

The new ID series follow those of newsers Tamron Hall and Paula Zahn.
