Heather Childers, host of the 4 a.m. hour of Fox & Friends First, is having surgery tomorrow to correct a condition called cervical myelopathy. The Fox Newser announced the news on her program this morning, and told viewers she will be going on medical leave for the next few weeks.

Dr. Marc Siegel joined the program to talk about Childers’ condition and the surgery she’ll be having tomorrow.

The co-hosts of the 5 a.m. hour of Fox & Friends First, Rob Schmitt and Jillian Mele, will be filling in for Childers during her leave, meaning they’ll be hosting both hours of Fox & Friends First each weekday morning for the time being.

Fox & Friends First, which previously aired from 5-6 a.m. ET, expanded to two hours last fall. Childers has been hosting the 4 a.m. hour, while Mele and Schmitt co-host the 5 a.m. hour, leading into the flagship Fox & Friends.

Childers joined Fox News in 2010 as a New York-based general assignment reporter. She served as America’s News HQ anchor from 2011 to 2013, and also helped launch Fox & Friends First, where she has been a co-host since 2012.
