FNC Extends Beyond Competition

By SteveK

Fox News Channel continued their You Decide 2008 coverage after the other cablers left for regularly scheduled programming. From 11-11:30pmET, FNC aired Bret Baier-hosted live programming, recapping Saturday’s results and looking to the future of the campaigns.

The extended programming also allowed FNC to go live to a part of Sen. Hillary Clinton‘s speech (with intro from President Bill Clinton) at a campaign event in St. Louis. The speech was Clinton’s first since her victory in Nevada earlier in the day.

CNN aired the special, “MLK: Words That Changed A Nation” while MSNBC went with a previously schedule documentary. Neither channel kept the lower third of Nevada/South Carolina results.

Relating to FNC, a tipster, commenting on the coverage by the broadcast networks, brings up an interesting question: should FOX network employ either a special cut-in update (like ABC and NBC tonight) or a crawl (like CBS tonight) during results coverage?
