ABC World News Tonight with David Muir was the No. 1 evening newscast for the week of January 14, not only in total audience, which is often the case these days, but also No. 1 among the younger news demos.

By averaging 9.8 million total viewers last week, World News delivered its most-watched the week since the comparable week in 2018 (week of Jan. 15, 2018). The ABC evening newscast defeated NBC Nightly News by its largest winning advantages in 7 months in key target demos: Total Viewers (+945,000), Adults 25-54 (+78,000)  – since the week of June 4, 2018.

World News Tonight was -6 percent in total viewers, and -7 percent in A25-54 viewers vs. the same week last year, which just so happens to be the show’s most-watched in 13 years.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt had a less than stellar week, ratings-wise. The broadcast was -10 percent in total viewers, and -14 percent in A25-54 viewers vs. the comparable week in 2018. However, Nightly remains the No.1 evening newscast this season in the ad-friendly A25-54 demo, and has been No. 1 in the demo at this point of the season for 23 consecutive seasons.

The CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor was -7 percent in total viewers, and -11 percent in A25-54 viewers vs. the comparable week in 2018.
