Evening News Ratings: Week of January 9

By Chris Ariens

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt was the most-watched evening newscast last week, after dropping the first week of the new year to ABC’s World News Tonight with David Muir.

Compared to the same week last year Nightly News was also the only newscast to see growth: up +2 percent in viewers. ABC was down -1 percent in viewers while the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley was down -2 percent.

Nightly also won in the A25-54 demo. The broadcast has been No. 1 for 76 of the past 77 weeks. But all three newscasts shed younger viewers vs. the same week last year: NBC was down -1 percent, ABC down -5 percent and CBS down -6 percent.
