CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Takes Unique Look at Modern Iraq

By Brian Flood

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria will take an in-depth look at what is left of Iraq in a special Long Road to Hell: America in Iraq on Monday at 9 p.m. ET. Iraq is in the midst of chaotic violence and Zakaria will explore the Iraq we would be going back to if America eventually puts more “boots on the ground.”

“With several of the 2016 hopefuls calling for troops to return to Iraq – an exercise of the most solemn responsibility for any commander-in-chief – we wanted to lay out a clear explanation of what we should have learned from the mistakes of the past in Iraq,” Zakaria told TVNewser. “We bring in all points of view from the key architects of the war – and, I’ll also walk viewers through why others, including me, have changed our views on America’s intervention.”

Former U.K. Prime Minister  Tony Blair, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former Presidential Envoy to Iraq Paul Bremer, political lifer Richard Clarke, former Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith, former U.S. diplomat Peter Galbraith, Council on Foreign Relations president Richard Haass, PhD and Gen. David Petraeus will join Zakaria during the special to discuss the situation and offer solutions.
