CNN Was the No. 1 Cable Network in Prime Time Last Week

CNN’s investment in covering the 2016 presidential race continues to pay off in ratings.

Last week, CNN was the No. 1 cable network in prime time, in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo, ahead of Fox News, HGTV, AMC and USA. Meanwhile, Fox News continued its streak as the No. 1 cable channel in total day vieweing. CNN was No. 4 in total day, while MSNBC was No. 13.

CNN had several big politics nights last week including primary coverage on Tuesday, a Democratic debate on Wednesday, a GOP debate on Thursday, the chaos at the Trump rally in Chicago on Friday and a town hall on Sunday.

With a total day win last week, Fox News extends its streak as the most-watched cable network to 8 weeks. This is the longest winning streak for any news network. The longest winning streak among all basic cable networks goes to Nickelodeon which was No. 1 for 23 weeks from Jan. 6 2014 to June 15, 2014.
