As part of CBS Sunday Morning’s 40th anniversary celebration, the venerable CBS News program will produce a one-hour prime time special that will highlight the show’s reporting on the arts, humanities, entertainment, and music.
Hosted by Jane Pauley, the special airs Friday, Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
A few weeks later, the show will put on its first live event. The 90-minute ticketed event will be held at New York City’s Town Hall on Monday, Oct. 1. CBS says it will “capture the essence and spirit of CBS Sunday Morning in an informative, engaging theater setting.”
Pauley also hosts that event and will be joined by the show’s correspondents.
Sunday Morning just finished its 15th straight season as the most-watched Sunday morning show. The broadcast launched Jan. 28, 1979 with Charles Kuralt. Charles Osgood was named Kuralt’s successor in 1994 and hosted the show until September 2016, when Jane Pauley was named anchor.
