Broadcast Nets Break in to Cover AG Jeff Sessions’ News Conference

By Chris Ariens

Three weeks into his tenure as U.S. Attorney General, Jeff Sessions has been forced to hold a news conference to explain his communications with Russian officials last year, while he was still a Senator from Alabama, but after he endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Last night, the Washington Post reported that Sessions had met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, twice in July. Sessions had endorsed Trump in February.

Before taking a few questions, Sessions said he’d met with advisers and has “studied the rules,” adding, “I have now decided to recuse myself from any existing or future investigations of any matter relating in any way to the campaigns for President of the United States.”
