An Excerpt From Anderson’s Book

The June issue features excerpts of Anderson Cooper‘s new book, “Dispatches From The Edge.” He writes about his brother Carter’s suicide.

After their father Wyatt died in 1978, the two brothers “retreated into separate parts of ourselves,” Cooper writes, “and I don’t think we ever truly reached out to each other again.”

In 1988, Carter leapt to his death from the balcony of his mother’s penthouse.

“[Carter and I] both had tried to cauterize our pain, push our pasts behind us,” Cooper writes. “If only I could have told him that he wasn’t the only one. I abandoned him long before he abandoned me.” More…
