Alex Wagner Set to Host Netflix’s Reboot of The Mole

Alex Wagner is adding more responsibilities to her plate as she is set to be named as the host of Netflix’s The Mole reboot.

Wagner, the new host of MSNBC’s 9 p.m slot on Tuesday through Friday, would follow in the footsteps of CNN’s Anderson Cooper, who hosted the reality show during its first two seasons while working for ABC News in 2001.

No official confirmation has come from Netflix or Wagner’s representatives, but the new season of The Mole, which is set to debut on the streamer sometime in the fall, was shot in Australia more than a year ago—prior to Wagner’s MSNBC appointment.

Andy Dehart of Reality Blurred first reported the news of Wagner hosting The Mole.

Wagner has had a very active career. She previously hosted Now with Alex Wagner, which debuted in 2011 on MSNBC and was canceled in July 2015. Wagner left MSNBC shortly after the show’s cancelation and jumped to The Atlantic as a senior editor. She then joined CBS News in Nov. 2016, where she served as a special correspondent at the network and co-host of CBS This Morning: Saturday.

Wagner announced she would be leaving CTM: Saturday a year and a half later to co-host and executive produce the Showtime weekly political docuseries, The Circus. Wagner replaced Mark Halperin, who was dropped from the show due to sexual harassment allegations.

Wagner would be the fourth host of The Mole, following Jon Kelly, who hosted ABC’s 2008 revival. Before that, sportscaster Ahmad Rashad hosted both seasons of Celebrity Mole in 2003 and 2004.
