A strong week for “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” during the first full week of the Sochi Olympic games, and for the evening newscasts overall, with more than 28 million people tuning in, keeping up the momentum from last week’s nine-year high mark.
Broadcasting from Olympic Park in Russia, “Nightly” topped its first week performance compared to the 2010 Vancouver games in viewers, up +5%, but was down -8% vs. week one in the A25-54 demo.
All three broadcasts were up year-over-year with NBC up the most in total viewers (+30%) and demo viewers (+34%) compared to the same week last year. “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” was up +6% in total viewers and up +8% in the demo. The ABC broadcast also finished the week stronger than during week one in Vancouver. “CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley” was up +12% in total viewers and +3% in the demo.
