Evening News Ratings: ‘Nightly’ Gets Olympic Bump

“NBC Nightly News” capitalized on the first week of full Olympic coverage to be the only evening newscast to grow week-to-week in Total Viewers.

After ratings were boosted by some big weather the week prior, “ABC World News” and “CBS Evening News” saw decreases in viewership. NBC’s first-place gap over ABC and CBS was its largest ever in Total Viewers (since at least 1987, when records start).

Brian Williams anchored the newscast from Vancouver and “Nightly” averaged its largest Total Viewer audience since the week of 1/17/2005. Monday, Williams drew 13.12 million viewers, the most for a single day since 12/1/2004.
