Perhaps Chris Hansen suggested each of the men should “have a seat”, perhaps he did not. But the rest of the sting sounds very familiar from Hansen’s days busting child predators on NBC’s Dateline: a house wired for video, police waiting to make arrests, and a group of men who’ve shown up expecting to have sex with a minor.
Police in Fairfield, Conn., say the weekend sting led to ten arrests—shot for Hansen’s post-NBC web series, Hansen vs. Predator.
“Our community is safer today as a result of this operation,” Police Chief Gary MacNamara told the Fairfield Citizen:
Ten men, ranging in age from 19 to 64, who police said came to a house in Fairfield expecting to have sex with a minor, were arrested in an undercover operation that started last Thursday and ran through the weekend.
The men all allegedly were in computer contact with someone they believed was either a 13-year-old boy or a 12-year-old girl, via the Internet and text messages. They were to be arraigned Monday at state Superior Court in Bridgeport.
Hansen, who left NBC in 2013, used Kickstarter to fund the web series.
