Zillow: People want real estate info on location

By Cory Bergman

The real estate site Zillow.com, which has partnered with 171 local newspaper sites, says it had a phenomenal year despite the terrible housing market. For starters, unique users jumped 57% and page views grew 37%. “Uncertainty always benefits information providers,” explains Spencer Rascoff, Zillow’s chief operating officer, in a press release.

Also, Zillow’s location-aware iPhone app has been downloaded 870,000 times since its debut in April – the most popular real estate app on the iPhone — and users view a total of 2 million home listings a month. “It’s clear to us that more and more people want Zillow’s real estate information on location, while touring neighborhoods and homes, and we expect this trend to magnify in 2010,” said Rascoff.
