Starz Cancels Step Up

Step Up has been canceled after three seasons.

The first two seasons aired on YouTube Red before moving to Starz for its third, and now final, season.

The cancellation comes one day after Starz canceled the period drama Dangerous Liaisons, which reversed its Season 2 renewal.

Based on the Step Up film franchise, the series follows the students and instructors of High Water, Atlanta’s most competitive performing arts school. Twins Tal and Janelle move from Ohio and are forced into a world where every action is a test. They will learn how far they are willing to go to achieve their aspirations and relish the moment as they try to navigate their new environment, both on and off the dance floor.

Christina Milian took over the role of Collette in the third season, originally played by Naya Rivera before her death.

Season 3 also starred Lauryn McClain, Keiynan Lonsdale, Terrence Green, Carlito Olivero, Jade Chynoweth, Kendra Oyesanya, Eric Graise, Faizon Love, Ne-Yo, Terayle Hill,  Rebbi Rose, Enrique Murciano and Tricia Helfer.

Holly Sorensen created the series and served as an executive producer along with Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. Tatum and Dewan played love interests Tyler Gage and Nora Clark in the 2006’s Step Up film.
