A big-budget film from the Russo Brothers has landed on Netflix,

Joe and Anthony Russo, known for the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame mega-blockbusters, will direct The Electric State for the streamer.

Millie Bobby Brown will star as Michelle, an orphaned teenager traveling across a retro-futuristic American west with a cute yet enigmatic robot and a strange traveler looking for her younger brother.

Chris Pratt is in talks to join Brown in an undisclosed role. Perhaps the strange traveler or voice of the sure-to-be endearing robot?

The project adapts Simon Stalenhag’s acclaimed 2018 illustrated novel. The Electric State’s rights were bought by The Russo Brothers in 2017, and Andy and Barbara Muschietti were supposed to helm the adaptation as recently as 2019. But the Russo Brothers later changed their minds and decided to take charge of the project themselves.

The Electric State had been in development for a while, first at Universal, but rising costs sent the production into turnaround. The revised budget is more than $200 million, per The Hollywood Reporter.
