Netflix Getting Exclusive This Summer

It feels like it’s been forever since Netflix and Disney inked an exclusive licensing agreement, but it wasn’t until Monday that viewers got a better idea of what that will mean for them. On Monday, chief of content Ted Sarandos wrote in a blog post that come September 2016, all new theatrical releases from Disney, Pixar, and LucasFilms will have a streaming home on Netflix.

Sadly, this means that Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not be included—it is exclusively on Starz, but other 2016 releases like Zootopia, The Jungle Book, BFG, Alice Through The Looking Glass, and others will be made available to streamers.

According to Sarandos, Netflix will spend the summer, as always, revamping their catalog. But they’re moving to get rid of anything “non-exclusive” and add films and shows that are exclusive to the service.
