Latin Music Awards attracts double the tweets, ratings bump

It’s not just the marquee events on English-language TV that are attracting bigger social TV numbers: last night’s Billboard Latin Music Awards sparked nearly half a million tweets in both Spanish and English — more than double last year total, Twitter said. It doubled the social activity score of American Idol for the night, according to Trendrr numbers. And NBCU said the Telemundo show delivered the best ratings in its 14-year history, up 16% over last year.

Trendrr helped power the social integration for the Telemundo broadcast. The show featured a real-time ranking of the top 5 artists trending on Twitter, and producers kept an eye on trending topics throughout the event.
