Kaley Cuoco to Star in Based on a True Story for Peacock

Kaley Cuoco is coming to Peacock.

The Emmy-nominated actress has been tapped to star in Based on a True Story, a dark comedic thriller. Based on a true event, Based On A True Story is about a realtor, a plumber and a former tennis star whose lives collide unexpectedly, exposing the country’s obsession with true crime and murder. Cuoco plays a married woman named Ava Bartlett.

Craig Rosenberg (The Boys, Lost, Preacher) will serve as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Jason Bateman (Ozark) and Michael Costigan will also executive produce for Aggregate Films.

Cuoco is coming off her second season on HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant. In the critically acclaimed series, Cuoco plays a flight attendant battling a serious alcohol addiction when she wakes up in a hotel room next to a dead man and is thrust into a murder mystery. In its first season, Cuoco was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. The show also had nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing For a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing For a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Rosie Perez.

Cuoco also voices the title character in the HBO Max adult animated series Harley Quinn, which is back for a third season.
