“It was wonderful to see millions of Game of Thrones fans return with us to Westeros last night. House of the Dragon features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response,” Casey Bloys, CCO at HBO and HBO Max, said in a statement following the debut.

Shortly after the series premiere, HBO renewed House of The Dragon for a second season.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav revealed that the series had the biggest marketing campaign in HBO history. The campaign included an AR app that allowed fans to raise dragons of their own, an official podcast with deep dives about each episode and several cross-portfolio promotions, as well as trailers and teasers on Youtube and social media.
