Our favorite fictional ’90s girl group—Girls5eva—will be back in less than two months.
Girls5eva, Peacock’s breakout hit about the members a one-hit-wonder girl group (Sara Bareilles, Busy Phillips, Paula Pell and Renée Elise Goldsberry) who reunite and try reclaim their fading fame two decades later, will return for Season 2 on Thursday, May 5, the platform announced at SXSW.
The first three episodes will premiere on the streaming service on May 5, with new episodes released weekly.
Peacock also released a sneak peek of what’s in store for the new season, which finds Pell’s Gloria in need of a knee replacement. Unfortunately, the news couldn’t have come at worse time as Girls5eva’s stunt at Jingle Rock in the Season 1 finale has catapulted the pop stars back into the limelight. But Gloria won’t let something as pesky as surgery derail their comeback.
After all, if Wickie (Goldsberry) could make it through a Christmas special with a rupturing gallbladder—detailed during one of the show’s signature flashbacks—then she can handle a little pain. “So what do you use to prop up half-dead NFL players?” Gloria asks the doctor in the Season 2 clip:
