Disney+ Orders New Muppet Series, Muppets Mayhem

The Muppets are back to bring more joy and laughs with a new comedy series for Disney+, titled Muppets Mayhem.

Muppets Mayhem will take viewers on a musical journey as The Electric Mayhem Band records its first album. Lilly Singh will play Nora, an ambitious junior A&R executive tasked with managing the group of musical misfits. The Electric Mayhem Band will feature the Muppet characters Dr. Teeth, Animal, Floyd Pepper, Janice, Zoot and Lips.

The series is spearheaded by Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes. “Adam F. Goldberg is our resident Muppet enthusiast at Signature and getting to play in the sandbox with Bill, a longtime Muppet performer, as well as these beloved characters was a dream come true for him, Bill and Jeff,” said ABC Signature president Jonnie Davis. “Their take is fresh, fun, musical and of course, hilarious. We couldn’t be happier to be the studio that is helping them get the band back together.”

This is Disney+’s second attempt to create a Muppets-themed series. In 2019, the platform had developed but ultimately scrapped Muppets Live Another Day—a show developed by Josh Gad, Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz—due to creative differences.

Last 2021, Disney+ released Muppets Haunted Mansion, the first-ever Muppets Halloween special and the first special from The Muppets Studio for the streaming platform.
