Disney+ is restoring the third episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to its platform after alternate, more family-friendly edits of the Marvel series were mistakenly uploaded, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The news outlet reports “some of the more violent scenes in the superhero series appeared to [have been] edited to tone down the content.”
A source told Entertainment Weekly the mistake stemmed from an attempt to correct a credit, rather than the streamer censoring violent content on Disney+, as some fans posited. Ryan Parker of The Hollywood Reporter tweeted it was a software control issue and the wrong filed was published accidently.
Examples of the toned down content included a less bloody death for one character and a pipe bouncing off an assailant instead of going through his shoulder.
The original version will be reinstated on the streaming service soon.
