'Anger Management' breaks ratings (but not social) records

Mr. #Winning himself premiered his new show, Anger Management on FX last night, and the ratings were more impressive than social conversation around it. With around 5.7 million viewers, the show not only broke FX’s all-time ratings record, but it became the most-watched scripted primetime comedy series premiere in cable history. Prior to the premiere, most critics didn’t have good things to say about the show, but that didn’t stop viewers from tuning in — the second half-hour even outpaced the first.

Of course, Charlie Sheen (or someone tweeting on his behalf) wasn’t shy about sharing the ratings news today to his 7.6 million Twitter followers:

Perhaps surprisingly — especially given Charlie Sheen’s social reach — the social TV ratings were not as dramatic. Trendrr put the show at #6 overall for the night, and Social Guide ranked him at #4. Bluefin Labs offered this analysis in infographic form, illustrating how positive sentiment dramatically outweighed the negative. In the end, positive sentiment plus high ratings is certainly #winning indeed:
