StorySnacker on Kickstarter

By Dianna Dilworth

Erik Slangerup is trying to raise $8,000 on Kickstarter to fund an app full of stories for children called StorySnacker.

The stories on the app are written to be consumed quickly. The idea is to get kids reading when you are waiting in line for the grocery store or riding on the subway. Each story takes only about a minute to read. Here is more about the project from the Kickstarter page.

StorySnacker is a mash-up of the two kinds of writing I do best. In addition to being a children’s book author, I’ve also produced dozens of 60-second radio spots, which require a pretty strict format: 160 words. Over the last several months, I’ve had a blast combining both of these traditions to create a new series of children’s stories that adhere to the same 160-word setup. That means each one takes the average person exactly 1 minute to read aloud at a normal pace (just like the script for a standard 60-second narrative-style commercial).
