sofia200Sofia Coppola will serve as the director and screenwriter for The Beguiled. This project would be a remake of a 1971 movie that starred Clint Eastwood.

According to Indiewire, the story for both this new film adaptation and the original movie comes from a southern gothic novel by Thomas P. Cullinan. Horizon Press released the book back in 1966.

Here’s more from Variety: “Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and Elle Fanning are in talks to star in the film. The original story followed an injured Confederate soldier (played by Eastwood) who found refuge at an all-girls boarding school during the Civil War and conned his way into several lonely women’s hearts.” (via The Wrap)
