Steve Costa and Kate Levinson have sold indie bookstore Point Reyes Books to Molly Parent and Stephen Sparks.

The new owners will take over the business in January 2017. Parent and Sparks are experienced in the books business, having met while working at Green Apple Books in San Francisco. Sparks has worked as a book buyer and manager of the store since 2007. He is also part of the Bay Area Book Festival. Parent has been working at the nonprofit writing center 826 Valencia since 2012 when she left Green Apple.

Costa and Levinson received 27 serious letters from people around the country interested in purchasing the book store. “Stephen and Molly immediately became our top choice because they have deep experience in the bookselling and literacy worlds and are beloved in the Bay Area book community,” the pair explained in a statement. “They represent the next generation of creative and energetic booksellers, and we couldn’t be happier to have such capable and likeable stewards for Point Reyes Books.”
