granta113.pngGranta will put a new spin on its coveted “Best of Young Novelists” series this year, releasing a “Best of Young Spanish-Language Novelists” list in Granta 113. The 20 new writers will be announced on October 1st at the Circulo Bellas Artes in Madrid.

Granta founded the “Best of Young” literary list in 1983, inspiring generations of literary debate. It has included such bright young writers as Salman Rushdie, Edwidge Danticat, Jonathan Franzen, and Monica Ali. The cover is pictured above, designed by Michael Salu. We interviewed him earlier this year about his work.

Here’s more from the release: “Drawing on the expertise of the Spanish-language edition of Granta, which has been running for nearly a decade, Granta 113 gives readers an unprecedented insight into the world of Spanish letters. Granta and Granta en espanol editions of the ‘Best of Young’ feature fiction from the same 22 authors from around the world (Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Columbia, Peru and more), but the pieces in each issue are different.”
