BookTrack Brings Digital Book Soundtracks to Students

By Dianna Dilworth

Microsoft has teamed up with Booktrack, a tool designed for self-published writers and publishers to add soundtracks to their ebooks, to put this technology in the hands of students.

The idea is to get students excited about reading and creative writing by being able to add a soundtrack to pieces they’ve written or read and sharing these creations with their classmates. Students can select classics or previously published books to build soundtracks or they can write and publish their own pieces to add music to.

Thanks to the partnership, students and teachers that use Microsoft Office 365 can now access Booktrack’s platform simply by signing into their existing account. The companies estimate that about 110 million students and teachers are using Office 365 at school and at home.

Booktrack is already used in more than 15,000 classrooms across the country, and was voted a top three education website by American Association of School Librarians.
