Artist Raises $4,500 to Build 7-Foot-Long Ink Pen

Using the crowdfunding platform ProjectSite, one artist raised more than $4,500 from 70 donors–all to build a massive 7-foot-long ink pen.

Visual artist Jim Woodring (pictured, with his pen prototype) learned how to ink comics with a traditional dip pen, bringing an old-fashioned art into the 21st Century. He hopes to inspire other artists with his project.

I hope to promote the understanding and use of this beautiful piece of ancient technology through a series of performances, as well as create an art object in itself.”
