Disney to Create a Live-Action Adaptation of Snow White

Snow White 200 (GalleyCat)With the success of live-action movies such as Cinderella and The Jungle Book, Disney announced plans to shoot a new Snow White movie. According to The GuardianErin Cressida Wilson has come on board to write the script. Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will collaborate to create new songs.

Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter: “Disney’s original Snow White animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs came out in 1937. Based on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, Snow White was Disney’s first animated feature film and a massive success for the studio. It won an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards and is considered one of, if not the most, successful animated films of all time.”

At this point in time, no release date has been announced. In addition to this project, Disney has been working on developing a number of other live-action literary-themed films, including Rose Red, Peter Pan, and Beauty & The Beast. What’s your favorite fairy tale? (via CNN)
