2010 Winter Olympics in Books

By Jason Boog

olympicbook23.jpgWith the 2010 Winter Olympics opening this weekend in Vancouver, we took a look at the official books of the international sporting event. Turns out you can buy plenty of literary products to commemorate the snowy sports.

The official website’s bookshelf includes these titles: With Glowing Hearts: The Official Commemorative Book of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, O Siyam: Aboriginal Art Inspired by the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, A Path of Northern Lights: The Vancouver 2010 Olympic Torch Relay Book, and Frommer’s Vancouver & Whistler Day by Day Guidebook

Here’s more about our favorite title, the Vancouver 2010 Mascot Story Book: “This first-edition storybook features the stories of Miga, Quatchi and Sumi, and how they became the mascots for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. Written and illustrated by Vicki Wong and Michael Murphy, this 32-page storybook includes the mascots’ story in both English and French. This beautiful book makes a perfect bedtime story for any young Olympic fan!”
